Another thing that you should watch out in the water is the growth of parasites. As the koi pond is a very good breeding place for certain bacteria and algae, you should be vigilant in looking after your pets. To avoid this, there are a good number of koi-safe chemicals that you can use in the water to ward off parasites from building up and living in the space of your pets.

Also, always remember to regularly check your pond equipment. As these machines' efficiency tend to slowly dwindle through time, it is essential that you have them checked regularly, just so you won't get stumped in case your filtration or heating system breaks off in the middle of winter when your pets need it the most. This way, you can also avoid putting your pets at risk of bacterial infections or freezing.
